Product Lifecycle Support

As new features and capabilities are added to GeoBase and use new capabilities in operating systems and frameworks, testing and development efforts naturally shift to these newer platforms and technologies, and away from legacy systems. As part of this ongoing lifecycle process, our support for legacy platforms is typically aligned with the support provided by technology vendors such as Microsoft (see Microsoft Support Lifecycle).

The following list contains the final GeoBase release versions that support a particular legacy platform and how long these GeoBase releases are supported for:

• .NET 3.5 builds - GeoBase 4.84 is the final version for which NET 3.5 builds were supported.

• Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) - GeoBase 4.31 is the final version in which WPF features were supported. Post-release support for GeoBase 4.31, including WPF features, ended March 1, 2018.

• Windows Vista - GeoBase 4.31 is the final version that was tested on Windows Vista. Post-release support for GeoBase 4.31 ended March 1, 2018.

• Windows Server 2008 - GeoBase 4.71 is the final version that was tested on Windows Server 2008. Post-release support for GeoBase 4.71 ended January 1, 2020.

• Autocomplete Geocoder or Drill-Down Geocoder with older versions of GeoBase and the latest data files - Support for the Autocomplete Geocoder and Drill-Down Geocoder using a GeoBase version prior to 4.31 and the latest data files (as custom data files) ended March 1, 2018. Unfortunately you can no longer request custom GBFS files that support the Autocomplete Geocoder and Drill-Down Geocoder using an older version of GeoBase. To continue using the Autocomplete Geocoder or Drill-Down Geocoder you must install GeoBase version 4.31 or later.

• Autocomplete Geocoder or Drill-Down Geocoder with the latest version of GeoBase and legacy data files - Support for the Autocomplete Geocoder and Drill-Down Geocoder using the latest GeoBase version and data files prior to 17Q3 (2017 3rd quarter) ended July 1, 2018. To continue using the Autocomplete Geocoder or Drill-Down Geocoder you must use data files from 17Q3 or later, which require GeoBase v4.31 or later. For more information see Data File Concept.

We recommend that you use the latest GeoBase version, to take advantage of performance improvements, bug fixes, and other enhancements. We provide post-release support for one year after the release of a software version.

GBFS File and GeoBase Release Version Compatibility

• GBFS files from 17Q3 (2017, 3rd quarter) or later, which have an L in the suffix of the file name, require a GeoBase version of 4.31 or later. We recommend that you upgrade to the latest GeoBase version, because version 4.31 is no longer supported.

• The following GBFS files and data versions require a GeoBase version of 4.39 or later:

  • Germany - 17Q4 or later
  • Spain - 17Q4 or later
  • SouthBrazil - 17Q4 or later
  • NorthBrazil - 17Q4 or later
  • Italy - 17Q4 or later
  • France - 17Q4 or later
  • EastUSA - 17Q2 or later
  • WestUSA - 17Q4 or later
  • USASouthEast - 17Q4 or later
